Wearable Bio-lab

There has been a fair few advances and announcements in wearable computing in recent times, but something that I haven't heard or seen any evidence of, but I think would be a fantastic innovation is wearable device that monitors the wearer's health via sensors and 24/7 tissue and/or blood sampling, and flags issues, and possibly even administers appropriate medicines and treatments in real time.

I'd imagine if such a device could be developed it would slash the cost of health care enormously by nipping problems in the bud. If these devices were able to exchange data with a central database, epidemics could be tracked in real time, and counter measures put in place before many people were even exposed to the pathogen.
